Basil, Basil, A Very Bad Deal
Saturday, June 8th, Nabet Members visited Basil Ford on Walden Avenue in Cheektowaga. Basil Ford is one of many Western New York companies who would not respond to our request when we asked them to suspend their advertising buy with channel 7. When told about the problems at Channel 7, the Nabet contingent was handed employment applications by a Basil greeter and was told we should apply.
We decided against going to work for Basil because of the rough encounter from their General Manager just moments before...we figured, why should pick up and go to Basil when our General Manager Bill Ransom is just as abusive.
Customer Reads NABET Handout and Leaves Basil!
The dedicated membership of NABET 25, who have been working without a contract since January 31st, took time to leaflet at Basil Resale Center in Amherst. One member handed a leaflet to an arriving customer. After talking with the gentleman, he said that he would shop somewhere else. True to his word, he pulled into Basil and turned around and drove away. We also got a lot of attention from passing cars as they noticed our "Turn off 7" shirts.
